Wild yam root may be trending lately, but it’s been around for ages! Here are some of the main benefits of using wild yam cream:

Ingredients:
- 2 ounces wild yam root, chopped
- 1 cup almond oil (or oil of your choice – olive, grapeseed etc.)
- 1⁄4 cup cocoa butter
- 1⁄4 cup beeswax pellets
- 5-10 drops essential oil for fragrance (optional)
Instructions:
- Using a double boiler, melt the beeswax until completely liquid. Add in the shea butter and stir until combined. Remove from heat.
- In a small saucepan, warm the almond oil over low heat for just 1-2 minutes. Do not let it get hot. Add the chopped wild yam root and allow it to infuse for 4-6 hours, keeping it just warm.
- After the wild yam has infused, strain the oil through a cheesecloth to remove the root pieces. Squeeze cheesecloth to get all oil out.
- In another double boiler, gently heat the infused wild yam oil. When warmed, slowly pour into the melted beeswax and shea butter. Whisk continuously until fully blended and smooth.
- Remove from heat and allow to slightly cool. Add in essential oils if using and continue stirring for 5 minutes as it cools and thickens.
- Pour into containers or tins and allow to fully set at room temperature for 24 hours before using.
