Chai Tea Oatmeal

Ingredients:

  • 1 chai tea bag
  • 1 1/2 cups of unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup of old-fashioned oats
  • 1 teaspoon of ground flaxseeds
  • 1 teaspoon of chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon of hemp seeds
  • 1 ripe banana, mashed
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of 100% pure maple syrup (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring the chai tea bag, 1/2 cup of water, almond milk, ground cinnamon, ground cardamom, and ground nutmeg to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Remove the tea bag and bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
  4. Stir in the oats, ground flaxseeds, chia seeds, and hemp seeds. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook for about 3 minutes, or until the oats thicken.
  5. Stir in the mashed banana and cook for an additional 1 minute. Remove the saucepan from the heat, stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt, then cover and allow it to continue cooking for 5 minutes.
  6. If desired, stir in the 100% pure maple syrup.
