Ingredients:
- 1 ½ pounds large raw shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails on or off per your preference)
- Fresh lemon or lime wedges and parsley for garnish (optional)
Marinade:
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup (see notes; may substitute another sweetener for other diets)
- 1 tablespoon garlic-infused olive oil
- 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
Instructions:
- In a bowl, combine paprika, red pepper flakes, dried oregano, salt, pure maple syrup, garlic-infused olive oil, and freshly squeezed lemon juice. Whisk to create the marinade.
- Pat dry the peeled and deveined shrimp with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
- Add the shrimp to the marinade, stirring to coat them evenly. Let the shrimp sit in the marinade for at least 30 minutes in the fridge (or longer if desired).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add shrimp and marinade.
- Be careful not to overcook the shrimp; they should turn pink and opaque but remain tender.
NOTES ON OTHER DIETS:
- Paleo Diet: While it includes maple syrup, which is not strictly Paleo, some individuals following a less strict version of Paleo might include it. To make it fully Paleo, you can replace the maple syrup with a Paleo-approved sweetener.
- Whole30 Diet: To make it Whole30-compliant, omit the maple syrup and use a Whole30-approved sweetener or leave it unsweetened. Ensure that the ingredients used align with Whole30 guidelines.
- Ketogenic Diet: You can adapt this recipe for a ketogenic diet by using a low-carb sweetener instead of maple syrup and adjusting portion sizes to meet keto macros.
